About the Breed
Our breed is a DDR line developed by a breeding program in East Germany in the beginning of 20th century. Initially dogs were selected for specific trains and working skills to assist German soldiers. At the moment there are few pure breeders of this DDR line in the world, mainly in Germany and post-soviet countries, that makes our selection work even more important and sophisticated. The DDR dog can’t be confused with a classic German Shepherd as they don’t have a show line’s sloped back. Their body structure is more muscular with a wide chest, large head and high set of hind legs. They are confident and loyal to their owner. Naturally independent could leave in a group and alone with no noticeable changes in behavior. German Shepherds are usually taken for military and protection use for their strong sense of smell and stamina. But, nevertheless you can adopt a puppy just as a family friend, they are very gentle with kids and quickly learn correct behavior inside the house.
